Wanderlust Wednesday

Destination:  Copper Falls State Park, Wisconsin

I've been very open about my love for the state park system in our beautiful states and todays destination contnues along that vein.  Copper Falls State Park is located in northern Wisconsin.  You got it, home of the North Woods and those cute northern accents, where everybody sounds like they are from Canada.  I love it!

The sound of cascding water greets you on one of the many trails in this state park, off of Hwy 13, near Mellen, WI.  You can hear the falls before you can see them and you look for them through the trees.  Maybe you and your son have thrown a stick or leaf over the side of the bridge to see it flow down the river and you are following it and trying to get to the falls before the stick does so you can see it go down th falls.  Either way you are moving fast trying to spot them and as you get closer the roar gets louder.

Or maybe you are trying to see how close you can get to the waterfall.  So you're going off of the beaten trail and climbing or rather sliding down hills trying not to plunge into the water.  The leaves in the fall are absolutely spectacular and these waterfalls and this park is one of the most scenic in the state.  There's the bridge over the river and several scenic views andobservation platforms.  There is hiking, biking, canoeing and kayaking, fishing, and swimming.  This state park is well worth the visit if you ever get a hankering to go "up north".
