It's springtime here in the midwest and in my opinion time to get outside and enjoy the warmth after a long winter. For me that means pulling out my camera and snapping a few pictures along the way. I happen to LOVE nature and so that is one of my favorite things to photograph. I also really enjoy "going exploring" as my son calls it, especially when we do it together. I would like to share my love for photography and nature with my son, who has been clamoring to use my camera, and I really enjoy the idea of a scavenger hunt. Put the two together and you get a Photo Scavenger Hunt!
I want to share the fun with you....

Wanderlust Wednesday-Volcano Nat'l Park
Island Maker
Cheap land in Hawaii, ocean front and extremely private! Sounds fantastic doesn't it? Hard to believe? Fact of the matter is, the Hawaiian islands are continuously growing and expanding due to the volcanoes Kīlauea and Mauna Loa.Island Maker

National Parks - Why Visit??
National Parks Week begins today and for a week you get free and/or reduced rates to many, many of the United States National Parks (58 of them), National Seashores and Lakeshores (roughly 14 of them), National Monuments (around 101 of those) scattered all throughout the United States and oodles of National Battlesites and memorials. Which means it is a great time to go and visit some of them. I have a list of the National Parks listed by state if you would like to check those out. The first National Park in the world was Yellowstone National Park, signed by Ulysses S. Grant in 1872 and was an uniquely American idea. Tracks of land were set aside to be enjoyed by people that couldn't be destroyed by industry and expansion. And boy to we Americans and others enjoy our National Parks. The iconic signs marking the entrance to a National Park cause excitement and a sense of adventure in those that see them.

Road Trip Tales - Monkey Trouble
I absolutely love travel photography because of the stories that you can tell with travel pictures. We always have something interesting, often hilarious happen to us while on a trip. So I will be posting random Road Trip Tales or RTT's about them. Stories that I try to capture with pictures. I promised you that I would give you further details about this cute, little, monkey we saw while at the Omaha Zoo.
Remember this guy.... Well here's his story.

Wanderlust Wednesday Omaha Zoo
The zoo is pretty awesome!
I have always loved zoos. I love how interactive the exhibits are getting, less about the "cage,"

John Wayne and Bridges
Slight change of plans in my quick road trip out to Omaha Nebraska. My first thought was that I was going to see some of the Loess Hills region that is in the western part of Iowa on my way out to Nebraska, but when I saw the signs for Winterset and the Bridges of Madison County, I changed my mind. I think all of us have seen or heard about the movie starring Clint Eastwood and based on the book by Robert James Waller. I personally did not really care for the movie, watching somebody cheat on somebody is never a really good thing in my mind. BUT the bridges were kinda neat to see.

Travel Photo of the Month
This month's photo of the month as shown by popularity hits on my website and is from our Colorado trip.
This picture was taken somewhere between Durango and Silverton Colorado. We had taken the Durango-Silverton Narrow Gauge Railway.
